Blog Post #2

For my topic I am interested in looking at Planned Parenthoods website and see how they word their pages. They use specific writing to help their website and business sound like a safe place and help everyone understand how everything works so I thought it would interesting to look into the language used and see how readers respond to that language. I am still not quite sure what I will be doing specifically or what my research question is though. I found sources in rhetoric used in websites, website design, the planned parenthood web pages, and different marketing words.

  1. That's such an interesting topic! I'm excited to see what you come up with for your research question!

  2. The most helpful sources were the how to articles that offered step by step explanations to create a website and the rhetoric that should be used in it. I'm hoping that doing the annotated bibliography will help me gain better insight into what it takes to build a website that doesn't just sound like a bunch of words on a page, but a person talking to you and helping you through the process. After that, I plan to go into further detail on this website and the rhetoric used in it for the lit review.

  3. Hi Tia,

I love that your topic choice focuses on the rhetoric used in websites, website design, information dissemination/marketing, etc. This will really be a valuable research in contribution to our field in PTW!

Keep working on the sources annotations and as you've mentioned in your blog post (in which I agree), hopefully, a specific dent or gap will allow you to pursue this rhetorical analysis topic more moving forward.

You might also want to see later on how other scholars/researchers analyzed other websites from a technical communication perspective to find out how they market a particular agenda, etc. for possible inclusion to your own method of examination.

    Best,

    Dr. B
